SWAT Team Shows Up with Massive Firepower at House of Parkland Anti-Gun Advocate David Hogg

The family home of anti-gun activist and Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg was the target of a “swatting” hoax this morning when a caller falsely claimed the address was the site of a hostage situation, reports TV station Local 10.

A SWAT team responded to the call and found there was no hostage situation. Several sheriff’s office units and a police helicopter were also reportedly sent to the scene. Hogg was in Washington, DC at the time to accept the RFK Human Rights award.

In a phone call with Local 10, Hogg reacted to the massive police presence at his home following the prank call. "I think it's really a distraction from what we're trying to fix here," Hogg told Liane Morejon. "Which is the massive gun violence epidemic in this country.

The kid doesn't get it. Massive government firepower shows up at his house and he calls it a distraction, while he works to disarm the masses who would be the last stopgap against massive government firepower in the event the government turned totalitarian.

The kid has a serious case of pathological altruism.

  1. Some author on ZH said that the false report amounted to attempted murder because cops often kill people on these raids, and have actually killed the victim of a false report.

According to several news reports, though, the false report described Hogg as a victim, not as a perp. If the report was that Hogg was holding his parents hostage with a rifle, it might meet the standards for attempted murder, but as it stands, it's more a case of reckless endangerment, IMO.

Hogg is fair game for this kind of thing because he has attempted to make himself a hero by lying and misrepresenting facts in the media. I'd agree that his behavior is pathological, but I wouldn't ascribe any altruistic motive to what he's doing.
