Anthony Bourdain Really, Really Hated Henry Kissinger

By Joshua Keating

The late chef and television host Anthony Bourdain traveled extensively in Southeast Asia, including in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, where his shows repeatedly highlighted the legacy of the Vietnam War. In particular, Bourdain frequently trained his ire on former Secretary of State–Nobel Peace Prize winner–secret bombing of Cambodia facilitatoraccused war criminal Henry Kissinger.
Bourdain had the following to say about Kissinger in his 2001 book, A Cook’s Tour:
“Once you’ve been to Cambodia, you’ll never stop wanting to beat Henry Kissinger to death with your bare hands. You will never again be able to open a newspaper and read about that treacherous, prevaricating, murderous scumbag sitting down for a nice chat with Charlie Rose or attending some black-tie affair for a new glossy magazine without choking. Witness what Henry did in Cambodia – the fruits of his genius for statesmanship – and you will never understand why he’s not sitting in the dock at The Hague next to Milošević.”

  1. Or, from another book, "Chapter Ten".

BTW, I had a South African Christian lady friend who was close to Desmond Tutu. She swore that ol' Henry WAS the AntiChrist.

  2. Awesome, but also really loved Obama and I'll bet if given the chance he would sit down for some latkes with Madeleine Albright.

And I doubt there was any cabal afoot to whack this guy. I've never seen his show and I'm not a foodie. He seems to have been one of these recovering junkies who wore his vice on his sleeve and his" struggle" as some badge or indicia of a higher morality. No surprise he killed himself.

  3. I was hoping the cause of death would be "auto erotic asphyxiation." We usually get one or two of those suicides from leftist celebrities each year.

    1. I feel bad for people whose minds have been so poisoned by politics that they celebrate someone’s death because of political disagreements.
