Trump Goes Off the Rails: He Loves Military Parades But Not Guns for the People

President Trump stunned Republicans on live television Wednesday by embracing gun control and urging a group of lawmakers at the White House to resurrect gun safety legislation that has been opposed for years by the National Rifle Association and the vast majority of his party, reports The New York Times.

He even suggested a conversation on an assault weapons ban, reports NYT.

And bump stock? He said, "They are gone."

At one point, Trump suggested that law enforcement authorities should have the power to seize guns from mentally ill people or others who could present a danger without first going to court. “I like taking the guns early,” he said, adding, “Take the guns first, go through due process second.”

Yes, Trump actually said this in a country where cops stretch any law in front of them!

Republican Senator Ben Saase really let him have it on this one.

"Strong leaders don't automatically agree with the last thing that was said to them. We have the Second Amendment and due process of law for a reason," Sasse said in a statement. "We're not ditching any Constitutional protections simply because the last person the President talked to today doesn't like them."

Sen. John Cornyn, the Senate's whip who had been seated next to Trump during the meeting described the meeting as "fascinating television" and "surreal," reports CNN.

Maybe Libertarians for Trump will have to call themselves in 2020 "Disarmed Libertarians for Trump."

  1. This guy is a retard. Take the guns then due process? Is he so stupid he doesn’t know what “due process” means?
Or is he just that dangerous?
I don’t trust republican politicians on guns either, it’s just a voting tool for them, if the tide changes, so would they.
This is one reason why it’s dangerous to talk about “constitutional rights”, and not distinguish that these are not rights granted to us, but what we own by the ownership of our bodies. Self defense being the highest on the list.
Politicians are snakes. The State is the enemy of mankind.
We must resist the State, the odds don’t matter anymore.

    1. Today we seem to have "Constitutional Privileges"...and how about that "Bill of Privileges"---? lol.

    2. You misunderstand. Obviously, he meant "Take away the guns first. Then it will be easier to get rid of due process"

  2. In all fairness, we already do have instances of "judicial Order first, due process thereafter": Things like Temporary Restraining Orders, and Emergency Child Custody Orders...both of them ex parte, where a party swears out a basic set of triggering facts (e.g. immediate, irreparable harm; lack of viable alternative measure, etc), and the judge signs it, and then an ex parte hearing is arranged automatically immediately thereafter, within a few days or a week. That being said, I don't think ex parte Orders should be utilized where one party is the government seeking the Order. And, I doubt simpleton Trump had this in mind, when he said this.

  3. Yep, this one is not good. Trump had one job; don't be Hillary.

With open borders leftist and libertardians, I want to be armed against the low IQ swarthy hordes that are incapable of running a first world civilization.

  4. Impeachment and removal from office are sounding better and better all the time.

  5. Authoritarian trial balloons being floated constantly. The guy thinks he's a philosopher king. Throw in a Fed induced economic downturn and all bets are off.

  6. This should not surprise anyone. Government has been "do as I say, not as I do" forever.

  7. From Trump's book 'The America We Deserve' (2000)

"It's often argued that the American murder rate is high because guns are more available here than in other countries. After a tragedy like the massacre at Columbine High School, anyone could feel that it is too easy for Americans to get their hands on weapons. But nobody has a good solution. This is another issue where you see the extremes of the two existing major parties. Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed. The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions. I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today's Internet technology we should be able to tell within seventy-two hours if a potential gun owner has a record."

Hmmm... Where have we heard THAT before?
