Here's the New York Post with the play-by-play:
[J]ust before 9 a.m. on Friday morning [a] teen, Alfred Burns, tried to steal a bicycle from in front of a store at 225th Street and Broadway, police told The Post.-RW
The bike’s owner caught Burns, 16, in the act, and flagged down cops, according to police.
Once the cops approached, Burns began to struggle, pushing one of them to the ground — and putting his hand over the downed officer’s neck, police sources said.
Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe copper looks like the only thing he gained from his 'roids is the rage.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a lot of trouble for 2 male cops to apprehend someone who isn’t burly.
ReplyDeleteOnly victim in this story is Burns
ReplyDeleteNot the bike owner? I swear, I get the disapproval of police (an-cap myself). But how else, even in a private property society, are we supposed to apprehend resistant criminals? Do you forget Burns stole something then fought when he was stopped?
DeleteOh wow I read it wrong I thought Burns was the kid who owned the bike. I read is as the bike's owner, Burns
DeleteHappens. I make at least 20 face-palmable goofs per day. It's amazing I'm still married and alive. :)
DeleteI wonder if they would be screaming at private police for attempting to arrest the criminal in the same situation. My guess is yes, given the shrieks of depravity coming from the crowd. That situation wasn't a "bad cop" situation; force was authorized (even in the NAP sense).
ReplyDeleteEvan Smiley should be crying about the cops in 3,2,1...
