PHOTOS Christie Spends Day at the Beach that He Closed to the Public

Because of the shut down by Governor Christie of the New Jersey state government, Island Beach State Park was closed this holiday weekend.

But statist rulers never think orders and restrictions apply to them.

Case in point, Christie and his entourage used the summer beach house this Sunday, provided by the state, and the beach.

He lied about it before he was aware there were photos of his being on the beach.
From NJ.com:
At a Sunday news conference on the shutdown, Christie was asked if he got any sun today.
"I didn't," he said. "I didn't get any sun today."

When later told of the photo, Brian Murray, the governor's spokesman, said:

"Yes, the governor was on the beach briefly today talking to his wife and family before heading into the office. He did not get any sun. He had a baseball hat on."
Which, of course, aside from the Christie lie leads to the question: Under what privilege does the Christie family get to spend time on a closed state beach?

  1. I'm guessing they didn't shut down his salary too...

  2. Are we sure this wasn't just the public's reaction to hearing Chris Christie was at the beach?

  3. Obvious Animal Farm style politician antics aside, the real question is why the public accepts that gov't is necessary for individuals to be able to drive their cars to a parking lot and walk onto a public beach. Having the gov't lock the entry gates is evidence of a real attempt to punish the public for inter-factional political skirmishes. Ugly, but we've seen it before.

  4. It's the only way he can go to the beach without people trying to push him back into the water.
