Walter Block Does Silicon Valley

Dr. Walter Block spoke in Silicon Valley on Friday at the offices of Carbon, a sate-of-the-art 3D printing manufacturing firm that recently completed $100 million in Series C funding led by Google Ventures.

Here I am with Dr. Block examining a model of the M1 3D printer the company produces and rents for $40,000 a month.

During Dr. Block's speech, he told Carbon employees that libertarians fell into four categories:

1. anarcho-capitalists (roughly 5%)

2. minarchists (roughly 20%)

3. constitutionalists (roughly 20%)

4. classical liberals (roughly 55%)

When an employee asked about free trade and retaliatory measures against countries that employ unfair tarde practises, he said:
Hey, if you are in a row boat with another person who uses a gun to shoot a hole in the boat, do you retaliate by also shooting a hole in the boat?
He used Hong Kong as an example of a very successful country that employed a strategy of free trade regardless of what trade restrictions other countries employed.
