BREAKING Donald Trump Expected to Name Reince Priebus as His Chief of Staff

Oh yeah, he is really going to put it to the establishment.

Suckers.

The New York Times reports:
In selecting Mr. Priebus, the president-elect would passed over Stephen K. Bannon, the right-wing media mogul who oversaw his presidential campaign. If Mr. Trump had appointed Mr. Bannon, a fierce critic of the Republican establishment, it would have demonstrated a continued disdain for a party that Mr. Trump fought throughout his campaign.
Mr. Trump’s choice is certain to anger some of his most conservative supporters, many of whom expect him to battle the Washington establishment over issues like taxes, immigration, trade, health care and the environment. They view Mr. Priebus as a deal maker who will be too eager to push the new president toward compromise.
In addition, Roger Stone says Priebus is Paul Ryan's boy:

  1. Now the Repub establishment reports to Trump. Nicely played.

  2. The dream is over, and a living, breathing nightmare will now be let loose on us all. I can't wait until president Trump calls for a constitutional convention to make America great again.

I am really looking forward to being frisked because I have no criminal record, and that is cause for suspicion among our newly empowered police.

  4. He also got Bannon in there. Smart play by Trump to get both a key link to the GOP establishment and his grassroots, since he's going to need to accommodate both sides to maintain power. I expect him to go for "Make America Slightly Better" approach to give his base enough reforms to keep supporting him while not doing enough to seriously upset the existing power structure.

    1. Bannon is no libertarian. These guys would be more than happy with authoritarian measures against certain groups in the name of 'law and order.' that's a mixed bag and it depends on which elements of what bannon and his group want get done.

  5. Maybe Mr. Trump made him an offer he couldn't refuse?

  7. Bannon sounds pretty good. The backlash is very promising.

  8. Having Reince Preibus for Co-Chief of Staff may serve several purposes.

    1. Given that Trump was campaigning like a cross between Alex Jones and Pat Buchanan whenever he was speaking freely without the teleprompter.... he will probably lean more on Steve Bannon for counsel and have Priebus on a short leash to take care of perfunctory secretarial matters. Reince will be reduced to carrying water for the Donald as he goes in directions he has determined beforehand. He will let Priebus enjoy the intoxication of proximity to power, and he may flatter him by occasionally asking his opinion, Trump is a man who has a record dating back three decades of being a nationalist on trade and budget deficits so it would be foolish to think he will change on that.

    2. It sends a "perceptible" signal to the establishment elites that he is "open" to their participation so they should mute and defer their objections while he is setting things in order. In short, it could be a head feint to gain time while his blockers are getting in position to pave the way for the running back to advance the ball. This has already caused the detestable Charles Krauthammer and George Will to shut up.

    3. The biggie... Trump will get to replace the head of the RNC without the turmoil of wresting power from Reince in a open war that may hobble him. It could be an act that he has defied Roger Stone's public advice in order to posture himself in a way that enables him to navigate more freely when he must deal with the entrenched class. Trump can later fire or demote Reince or he can create an environment that Reince would want to move on to something else of his own accord.

    4. Trump could be a sell-out... but the genuine zeal with which he was channeling Jones and Buchanan on the hustings makes this unlikely. He sought out and is listening to Judy Shelton on monetary policy BTW.
