Arianna Huffington Steps Down from the Huffington Post

Arianna Huffington is leaving the lefty-leaning website Huffington Post after co-founding the site 11 years ago, reports WSJ.

Huffington will step down in the coming weeks to devote herself full-time to her soon-to-launch startup, Thrive Global.

Thrive Global will focus on educational workshops, e-courses and certifications to help companies improve the well-being of their employees, according to an internal memo obtained by CNBC that Huffington had sent to her staff.

She sold the Huffington Post to AOL five years ago for $315 million, and then Verizon Communications bought all of AOL last year for $4.4 billion. Though  Huffington last year secured a new contract through 2019, she said it became clear that she could only focus on one company without burning out and going against the lifestyle principles she’s preaching at Thrive. “I really thought I could do both, but as we started building it up, I realized that it really needed my full attention,” she said.

Huffington sits on the board of Uber.
