Renewed Calls for Texas Secession after Brexit Vote

4 comments:

  1. I live in Texas. The idea of secession among the typical populace is beginning to be viewed as more mainstream and less kooky. I think even anti-seccessionists are starting to take the issue seriously. But at this point I'm convinced this is more about state pride than a do or die movement.

That's not to say there aren't secessionists such as myself who are totally serious. I just think our numbers are still very small. And I wonder how many Texans who talk about secession would actually vote for it. However, every change starts with an idea. And maybe, just maybe, we might actually get there someday.

    1. The more responsible and respected people speak positively of secession, the faster the idea will grow.

    2. Tis true. One thing we have very much in our favor is history. I don't know about now but when I was in school all the text books were totally pro independence from Mexico. "Remember the Alamo" is still right at the top of Texas culture. Thus the idea of successful secession from a politically oppressive and corrupt regime is deeply embedded in Texas culture. Someday we may see the Republic of Texas again.
