Gawker Considers Lawsuit Against Peter Thiel

According to a Forbes report, Gawker Media is mulling whether to sue billionaire investor Peter Thiel for his funding efforts to undermine the company. Its lawyers are currently looking into whether Thiel violated any laws, according to a source, who mentioned tortious interference and racketeering as possible offenses. Gawker Media filed for bankruptcy protection earlier Friday in order to prevent an order forcing it to pay $140 million to Hulk Hogan

  1. No talk about appealing the judgement because they were in the right? Hmmm...

  2. Racketeering... the crime invented for when no other crime exists. Only to be used on mobsters, don't ya' know.

That's a new one. You can't spend your money bankrolling someone's lawsuit because that constitutes a 'tortious interference' or sorta like saying nobody should give money to a plantiff. Imagine married people who are getting a divorce suing their respective parents-in-law for lending their offspring money for the retainers. The Gawker lawyers should be laughed out of the court.
