Springsteen has cancelled a scheduled appearance in Greensboro, North Carolina because North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory has signed a bill into law that requires individuals to use bathrooms that correspond to the gender on their birth certificate.
In other words, the only practical result of this is that women will not be able to use urinals in men's bathrooms.
Men and women will both still be allowed to piss. They will just be required to use a bathroom that is based on the anatomical structure of their bodies. And the way I see it, if a man can pretend he is a woman, then let him go all the way and sit in a stall when he pisses in the men's room and pretend he is pissing in the ladies room.
But the law has caused Springsteen to go into politically correct overdrive, cancel the concert and issue a statement that said, in part, the following:
To my mind, it's an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress,...How exactly forcing girls to use bathrooms with men dressed as women is progress, he did not explain.
Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them.
Reality distortion in my book is never progress. This is all part of the lefty tendency to force a reverse reality perspective on a culture from as many different directions as possible and call the regression, in the ultimate reversal, "progress."
That said, it should be noted that in a Private Property Society, the owner of each property would be able to set his own bathroom rules any way he chooses.
As for the Springsteen cancellation, what he has really done is announced his own one-man sanction against his North Carolina concert ticket buyers.
Of the 15,000 people who bought tickets to his concert, some may be in favor of the law, some against, and some may not care one way or the other. Yet, he is cancelling the concert for what rulers in the state have ordered.
How is that progress?
