How Donald Trump Is a Failure

Laurence Vance emails:

Dear Bob:

The woman who wrote to Walter Block expressing her support for Trump began with this statement:

I want to sign up now, even as an Honorary member, because I am FED UP, as only an old lady can be, with these nit-picking twits who labor over libertarian minutiae, but miss the Point! (being the NAP).
If the point is the NAP (the libertarian non-aggression principle), then Trump is a failure. He is not a libertarian and does not hold to the NAP. Everything else she said was irrelevant.

Regards,

Laurence Vance

  1. Vance is wrong. What Trump is doing is a retaliation against others' violation of the NAP. It is self defense.

  3. Limelemon,

"What Trump is doing is a retaliation against others' violation of the NAP. It is self defense."

Can you identify who the "others" are that you refer to, what was their NAP violation, and what actions did Trump take that you label "self defense"?

    1. The illegals come here and ask the government to steal from others and give to them. This is a violation of the NAP. Trump's actions will be to direct the government to stop these violations. Another example, is that the government violates property rights when it outlaws guns. Trump will direct the government to diminish the violations of the NAP by directing the federal thugs to stop attacking innocent gun owners.

    2. Limelemon,

      “The illegals come here…”

I would like to stop there and ask if you think, as a libertarian, that people who hail from a location outside the US border line should have to get permission of the US government to cross over the border?

“…and ask the government to steal from others and give to them. This is a violation of the NAP. Trump's actions will be to direct the government to stop these violations.”

Can you explain how these people without US citizenship asking the government to steal is a violation of the NAP? What actions will Trump take to stop the asking?

“…the government violates property rights when it outlaws guns. Trump will direct the government to diminish the violations of the NAP by directing the federal thugs to stop attacking innocent gun owners.”

Trump’s campaign rhetoric indicates, contrary to past statements in different political times, that his approach is hands-off on guns. But, his lust for social control manifests in the government banning certain individuals from firearms possession. So, the key concept here is “innocent”. One would hope they find themselves in this category, but remember- Trump says it is the federal government who will decide!

“... for those who are violent, a danger to themselves or others, we need to get them off the street before they can terrorize our communities.”

“Too many states are failing to put criminal and mental health records into the system – and it should go without saying that a system’s only going to be as effective as the records that are put into it. What we need to do is fix the system we have and make it work as intended.”

In your view, should federal government force states to “put criminal and mental health records into the system”?

Do you agree with Trump that the federal government should determine if a person is fit to own a gun?

    3. “Ridiculous” is not an argument.

  4. "I want my Man to 'protect' me, and our house and kids"

A private socially conservative drug and thug-free AnCap neighborhood with private streets and schools would do that just fine. Trump could build it, but does he understand it? His in-curiousness seems quite profound.

From now on, every time there is a "terrorist" attack or a mass shooting, we need to put the blame on those who preclude the ubiquitous construction of AnCap communities. The war against racism seems to be destroying the various minority groups who would otherwise benefit the most from living in an AnCap neighborhood.

  5. Libertarian should wake up!!! Trump is the answer to fix this country.
If trump doesn't win this country is over and there will be no turning back. Most libertarian just react instead of thinking!

    2. Yes, but would you rather have a master of peace or a master of disaster? Diminishing the power of the master is a step in the right direction. Check out Rothbard's article "Do You Hate The State?" He says that abolition is the goal, but he welcomes any decrease in the state's aggression.

    3. How do you know Trump will be a master of peace and decrease the State's aggression?

  6. Rick, you are exactly right. And in my opinion Rothbard was wrong in his pro political action.
    Gasp!!!!

  7. "libertarian minutiae" ... like shutting down free trade, clamping down on the press, and forcing companies to crack encryption for the feds.

All this proves that libertarians are just a dumb as any other social group and will buy into the lure of political power given the right personality. Politics poisons everything, even good ideas.
