Trump Is Talking Running Mates And...

...it is not good.

He wants a politician in the second seat.

Bloomberg's John McCormick reports:
A day after running the tables in the Nevada caucuses, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he'd likely look for someone with political experience as a running mate if he wins the nomination -- maybe even someone he has run against.
"I would want somebody that could help me with government, so most likely that would be a political person," the billionaire said Wednesday during an appearance in Virginia, a state voting on next week's so-called Super Tuesday. "You want somebody that can help you with legislation, getting it through."
Trump didn't mention any names from the 2016 Republican field, but did say that "some of the people I've dealt with I do have a lot of respect for and I like."

  1. Not surprising in the least considering Trump has no idea how to actually be president. This VP will play an integral role in a Trump administration. It may be why Kasich is hanging around ... waiting for a vice presidential offer.

  2. I have thought for a while now they will make a deal with trump for bush as VP just like they did his father with reagan.

  3. If he values his life, Trump should nominate an outsider even more disdained by the insiders than he is.

  4. I can think of the perfect person althought Trumps comment "You want somebody that can help you with legislation, getting it through." seems to rule him out.

  5. I can't see it being Bush. That surname is pure poison. Carson makes some sense, as long as saying "ya know" every other sentence is an important qualification. Other than that, does it even matter?

    1. Carson is pretty loopy. If he wants a politician, my suggestion would be Walter Jones, since he's been in Congress since 1992, and would appeal to less hawkish voters while still being generally in line with Trump on immigration and trade. The fact that North Carolina has become a swing state in recent years is an added bonus. The main strike against him is the fact that he's 74 years old, but he's the one person in DC who would appeal to all the various groups Trump looks to be going after. An open borders hawk or a left-winger would be a turnoff to his base, and someone like Carson or Palin would be easy pickings for the media.

  6. If the rumors prove true that it will be Joe Scarborough, Trump will have made a smart choice. I'm not a fan of Scarborough, but it would be a lot better choice than someone like Tom Cotton or Paul Ryan.
