ESCALATION? Pentagon Wants to Send Attack Helicopters To to Iraq

"The United States is prepared to assist the Iraqi Army with additional unique capabilities to help them finish the job, including attack helicopters and accompanying advisers, if circumstances dictate and if requested by Prime Minister Abadi," Defense Secretary Ash Carter said on Wednesday as he briefed the Senate Armed Services Committee on America’s ISIS “strategy.”

But Obama appears to continue to be a semi-reluctant 8-Year Emperor/Warrior.

"The President has not decided to approve the use of attack helicopters in an operation like this," White House Press Secretary John Earnest said.

  1. ─The United States is prepared to assist the Iraqi Army with additional unique capabilities to help them finish the job, including attack helicopters and accompanying advisers─

Except that it is far easier to down an attack helicopter with a shoulder-mounted S-A missile than it is to down a fast jet attack plane. This will be interesting.
