Dear Bob,
I have a new article on the news and commentary website, “EpicTimes,” on, “Agenda for a Freer and More Prosperous America.”
The “progressive” elite always has visions of a better and more just government-fostered society through the interventionist-welfare state. One such vision is a recently released “report” by the Roosevelt Institute primarily penned by Nobel economist, Joseph Stiglitz.
It contains the usual grab bag of proposals for a larger and more paternalistic government at the expense of taxpayers and the businessmen-entrepreneurs who are expected to foot the bill and participate in the government redistributive and regulatory programs.
If not the “progressive’s” vision of a “better world,” then what?
I try to outline the classical liberal’s agenda for a freer and more prosperous America, one that starts with the importance of recapturing the spirit of individualism, the morality and effectiveness of markets, leading to the understanding that it is the very policies most frequently proposed and implemented by “the left” that is the source of virtually all the plagues they condemn on “capitalism.”
And how it is only through the institutions and incentives of the free market that poverty can be abolished, artificial inequalities created by the state can be eliminated, and prosperity can spread to the benefit of society as a whole.
