California May Let Undocumented Immigrants Buy Obamacare

This is the problem with immigration, from a libertarian perspective,

It is not immigrants, legal or illegal, who come here to work or play (on private property).

It is the insane idea that people from around the globe should be put on the dole , in any fashion, here in the US an  paid for in one fashion or another by US citizens. And make no mistake, Obamacare is distorted government healthcare propped up by government funding,

Reports Politico:
California lawmakers and activists are spearheading a first-in-the-nation plan to let undocumented immigrants buy Obamacare health insurance.
Supporters say the California proposal, which would need federal approval and couldn’t start until 2017, is the next logical step in expanding health insurance to a population that was intentionally excluded from the president’s health-care law...
California Gov. Jerry Brown isn’t commenting on the legislation, which has been approved by the state Senate but not by the Assembly. But just last month, Brown agreed to spend millions in state dollars to provide health care to undocumented children.

  1. These immigrants fit Doug Casey's definition of a speculator. They are positioning themselves to benefit from government created distortions in the market. We should cheer them on.

    1. I remember Jacob Hornberger saying awhile back that possibly the only way to end the welfare system was to break it as no actual politician would actually get rid of it despite what they campaign on. This may help

    2. @ Cynic....I agree. I can make the same argument for the whole system of governance in general. Let it break.

  2. RW, is the problem with immigration, from the Libertarian view, really the welfare immigrants or the State itself which provides the welfare through theft? I've read what Hoppe says about immigration and welfare and I understand the point, but isn't this sort of whacking the branches and not chopping the roots?

    1. You're mistaking the difference between the error of diverting discretionary energy from root chopping to branch chopping vs. simply cheering when a natural storm comes along and shreds branches for free.

Anything that undermines the state, including de-resourcing it, is a mitzvah. Incremental energies invested in doing so have highest long term return when directed at the roots, but everything helps the cause.

  3. Is it even possible to buy Obamacare insurance, particularly subsidized plans, and remain "undocumented"?

    1. Amen.

@Capn Mike - It takes a minute to readjust the head as omnipresent government propaganda pushes us all into the herd mindset that the government _is_ us. Thus its money is our money. Thus we must help it conserve resources. So it can do more for us on our behalf. :) Don't feel bad, RW fell into the trap too.

Switch your head back into the awareness the government is a violent overlord taking our stuff and employing it against us, and you will realize anything depriving the government of its resources is noble, praiseworthy, and desirable.

Nah, it ain't that. It ain't the money. It's the hypocrisy.
