Walter Block to Justin Raimondo: On Libertarians and Violence

Subject: oppose violence?

Dear Justin:

Another excellent article, as per usual: https://www.lewrockwell.com/2015/06/justin-raimondo/whos-a-terrorist/

However, you say here that libertarians oppose violence, and link to Murray's For a New Liberty:

"Note that it isn'’t enough to commit violence on account of one’s “anti-government” views: Joseph Stack was merely a lone wolf whose protest represented nothing and no one but himself. Although Greenwald identifies him as a 'libertarian,' in fact his act aroused no sympathy or defense from the libertarian movement for the simple reason that libertarians oppose violence."

But Justin, libertarians do not oppose all violence. Murray never says anything like that. We are not (necessarily) pacifists. Surely, we favor defensive, justified violence, no?

Is this a typo on your part.

Best regards,

Walter
