"The Curious Political Fauna with Whom Aqua Buddha has Surrounded Himself"

Charles Pierce at Esquire, in a post titled The Aqua Buddha Political Machine: The Iowa Shenanigans, writes:

[O]ut in Iowa, one of the most baroquely provincial political scandals of all time has snared brogressive hero Rand Paul...the legal proceedings have thrown open a window into the curious political fauna with whom Aqua Buddha has surrounded himself.

"It's a strange universe," says a conservative strategist who's well acquainted with members of the Pauls' inner circle. "You've got the real Star Wars cantina identified—Hammerhead, Greedo—and let's be honest, a lot of these guys would not have work in the mainstream, even in the tea party."

Charles doesn't know the half of it. Investigations are going on well beyond Iowa. Both east and west of Iowa. In fact, the juiciest part of the story may be developing just a short ride from Boston-based Charles.
