Tax Freedom Requires Adherence to the 'Let-Alone' Principle

Richard Ebeling emails:

I have a new article on the news and commentary website, "EpicTimes," on, "Tax Freedom Requires Adherence to the 'Let-Alone' Principle."

April 15th marks the annual date when Americans must file their income tax returns and remind themselves just how much government at all level siphons off from the their work and efforts to earn a living.

Data show that for the average American they will work about 114 days out of the year in 2015 just earning enough to pay what they are obligated to pay to the political powers-that-be. So about a third of the year will be spent producing enough to feed the insatiable appetite of government to spend other people's money.

This will not end until there is a turn away from the premises and practices of the modern interventionist-welfare state. And this will require some a new principled and uncompromising defense of the right of the individual to life, liberty, and honestly acquired property.

Raised to the leading political principle of the society must be what idea of letting people alone to peacefully live their own lives without the paternalistic hand of government managing all that we do and say. Otherwise, government will continue to gobble up more of what the honest people in society earn as each year  goes by.
