A perfect model for Hillary’s ambitions is the character Tracy Flick (played by Reese Witherspoon) in the 1999 movie “Election.” Tracy, like Hillary, craved political power in order to, well, to have it. She finagled her way through a high-school presidency campaign and, after graduating from college, went to Washington to continue her pursuit for power over anything that moved. The movie is worth watching, if for no other reason than to watch the anti-election speech given by another young woman, Tammy Metzler. There isn’t a one of us, of libertarian/anarchist persuasion, who could have written better lines than Tammy had. That the school officials simply removed Tammy’s name from the ballots is a wonderful example of realpolitik.

Actually, in the movie I'm pretty sure that Tammy voluntarily removes herself from the ballot by confessing to a crime she didn't commit (defacing her brother's campaign posters).
ReplyDeleteI just remember being disappointed that Reese Witherspoon didn't get naked.
