NYPD Cop Turns Himself in for Attacking Female MTA Employee

A suspect has surrendered for questioning in an attack on an MTA worker — and he turns out to be an NYPD cop, police sources said Thursday, reports the New York Daily News.

The NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau is now investigating the incident in which the Metropolitan Transportation Authority worker, on-duty and in her uniform, was put in a bear hug, thrown to the floor and choked, the sources said.

The 28-year-old transit employee was on the southbound D train platform at the Tremont Ave. station in East Tremont when the man attacked her about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 23, officials said.

She was hospitalized with minor back and neck injuries, police said.

The attacker was caught on surveillance video running from the station with a smirk on his face, according to police.

But once cops circulated the video, they learned they were looking for one of their own: Investigators got calls identifying the attacker as a Harlem cop, police sources said.

  1. Government employee vs government employee. Then again an MTA employees cant kill, steal or harm you without getting away with it. However it being a felony because they get a paycheck from the tax payer is absurd.

  2. The smirk. Is that the reaching full awareness "I'm-in-deep-shit" smirk? Oh, it can't be. These are the total immunity boys.

  3. If cops can get away with murder (Eric Garner) I"m sure they can get away with this minor "almost" killing.
