Nathaniel Branden Has Died

Libertarian psychotherapist Nathaniel Branden has died. He was 84.

For many years, he had an affair with Ayn Rand and developed a very successful therapy business, mostly riding on the coattails of Rand.

Branden and Murray Rothbard never got along (SEE:Nathaniel Branden's Nasty Swipe at Murray Rothbard).

Coincidentally, last night Walter Block told us how Branden converted him to libertarianism, after he challenged a group that included Rand and Branden, after Rand had given a speech.

He approached the group that was at the other end of the table from him and said he wanted to debate on capitalism and Branden said he would as long as the debate went on and would not stop until one convinced the other. He also required that Walter read Rand's novel, The Fountainhead and Henry Hazlitt's Economics In One Lesson.
