Ben Carson Officially Changes Political Parties, Rejoins GOP

Ben Carson, the pediatric neurosurgeon who confronted President Obama at a prayer breakfast last year, used Election Day to officially change his party affiliation from independent back to Republican, moving yet another step closer to a possible 2016 presidential run, reports the Washington Times.

Will Carson be competition for Rand Paul for the GOP VP spot, along with the just re-elected New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez ?

Mother Jones writes:
Heading into her 2014 reelection bid, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez was already a fixture on 2016 shortlists for vice president. No less a figure than Mitt Romney name-dropped her as presidential material. And after her easy victory over Democratic Attorney General Gary King on Tuesday, expect to hear a whole lot more about Martinez's national potential.
