More Evidence the State Loves Football

The San Diego Chargers are in town to play the Oakland Raiders at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.

To my amazement this morning, a bus carrying part of the Chargers football team, passed by me with a six man California Highway Patrol escort motorcycle team.

They even stopped cross traffic so that the bus could pass.

It was just a plain ordinary luxury bus that would have drawn no attention without the Highway Patrol escort. How nuts is this? No one on either side of the bay cares about the Raiders. They are 0-4 and would not even be able to defeat the Iraqi army.

But while the coppers were "protecting" 6'3'', 300 pound, Charger offensive linemen, just a half a block away a female 5'6' German tourist was mugged.

And that's the way protection by government enforcers rolls.
