Rand Paul Issues Statement on Brett Kavanaugh

It's total no-nonsense:
Having looked at the totality of Brett Kavanaugh’s life and career, I am persuaded to vote for him today.
The preponderance of evidence from hundreds of people who knew him and worked with him indicates he is a good man with a good reputation for integrity and character.
Judge Kavanaugh is qualified, he has been vetted, and he should be confirmed.
I can support Rand here. As I have reported,  Kavanaugh is very bad on key issues. However, Trump is unlikely to name anyone better. It appears the Bush wing of the Deep State is in charge of selecting nominees in the Trump administration. That said, if Kavanaugh is defeated it is going to provide a huge victory for the cultural Marxists-post modernist irrational anti-civilization crowd. Thus, Kavanaugh should be supported for this reason alone: To stop the evil CMPM crowd. They will go rabid upon a Kavanaugh confirmation and expose how insane and anti-civility they are---and men (as a class) during this insane period will have been given a minor break.

  1. Agree 100%. Kavanaugh is undoubtedly qualified, which is the primary role of the Senate to determine. Let's hope a more libertarian candidate gets through next time - we know there are some better alternatives on his list.

  2. I don't buy the argument that "We have to appoint Kavanaugh because the alternative might be worse." That's of a piece with the state telling us that we have to attack Middle Eastern countries because, if we don't, they'll attack us, or that we should vote for Clinton because Trump would be worse. Everyone can always spin the unknown alternative to be heinous.

Kavanaugh is terrible on the Fourth Amendment. How can we support installing a person who is on the record as blessing state surveillance of private citizens? Yes, the alternative might be terrible on the First Amendment, but could be good on the Fourth Amendment. Shouldn't we just deal with each candidate as presented? I'm surprised that Rand Paul is not objecting on Fourth Amendment grounds, where he is normally pretty strong.

  3. First, all the amendments and Constitution were treated years ago. Second, not to speak for RW, but I think his argument was that disheartening the current protest crowd is more valuable, not giving them any momentum. No matter who it is, it's a statist position that strips liberty just by existing.

    1. Exactly wrong. The left is going to get crazier and crazier and there's no stopping it. Get out of their way. They have no capacity for self restraint. They will not let go of the stock until they crash the plane. Stop trying to reason with them and find a parachute.

  4. Maybe once he's on the court, BK will be chagrined into thinking about the importance of fairness, openness, due process and why a grant of broad presidential powers could someday end up in the hands of a CMPM lunatic.

    1. Maybe, but don’t hold your breathe. He’s an entrenched statist. I don’t think he cares so much of who wields the power, as long as the power is held by the State.
They are ALL ON THE SAME TEAM.
I also don’t agree with “the next guy may be worse. Maybe we need worse. Besides, that the second someone may be worse, is no reason to accept the evil first.

  5. We should dilute the power of the individual SCOTUS Judges by expanding the number of justices sitting on the court. Maybe to 15 justices. Or better yet, to 25.

  6. A Yale educated, alcoholic, and likely degenerate gambler... Brett Kavanaugh is already the comlete bitch of Old Yankee i.e., Prescott Bush wing of the Shadow State. This dog and pony show was just that, a diversion to whip up Boobus Americanus and keep him from asking any real questions.

  7. How do you trick a libertarian into supporting the patriot act? Find a Democrat to accuse a Republican of rape.

The fix is in. Everyone has fallen for this little stunt. It's pathetic.
