UPDATE 2

VIA KPER

A media relations contact with the Hanford Vit Plant says a take cover alert went out to employees this morning just before 6 a.m Pacific Time.

The Department of Energy say they issued the take cover as a precaution after steam was observed coming from PUREX Tunnel 2 during tunnel filling operations.

At this time, there is no indication of a release of hazardous material.

The DOE says employees are directed to stay indoors in the 200 East Area until further instructions.
