The Clever Moon Jae-in: Trump Should Win the Nobel Prize

South Korean President Moon Jae-in and the Stable Genius
Wow, South Korean President Moon Jae-in really wants peace and harmony on the Korean peninsula. This is one great man.

From the day he was elected, the goal of Moon has been to ratchet down tensions between his country and North Korea--and he has done just that. But there remains an orange strand of hair in the ointment belonging  to the unpredictable United States president Donald Trump.

The meeting between Trump, surrounded by war hawks, and North Korean President Kim Jong-un, expected in May or June, will be a delicate affair. There are already rumblings that the war hawks are advising Trump to make demands of Kim that could never be agreed to.

What to do?

A congratulatory message arrived at South Korea's Blue House from Lee Hee-ho, the widow of late South Korean President Kim Dae-jung, in which she said Moon deserved to win the Noble prize in recognition of his efforts to bring peace and harmony to the peninsula, according to South Korean officials.

But it is much too early for such talk. The North Korean leader must survive the meeting with the Stable Genius to keep the North and South peace initiative intact.

What better way to keep the talks in line then by responding to the widow's letter by stating that it is Trump who deserves the Nobel Prize?

“President Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize. What we need is only peace,” Moon told a meeting of senior secretaries, according to a presidential Blue House official who briefed media.

That's how you counter U.S. war hawks, put the idea in the head of the egomaniac Trump getting the Noble Prize.

A senior adviser to Moon told Reuters last week that the South Korean government had a “comprehensive roadmap” that it was sharing with the United States ahead of Trump’s meeting with Kim.

Now that roadmap ends with a Nobel Prize for Trump. Brilliant!

  1. Several pro-Trump pundits predicted this over a year ago. Trump played his role as unpredictable antagonist to draw a red line for NK and drive them toward diplomacy with SK and a peaceful outcome. I don't know what the truth is and I am not a Libertarian for Trump by any means, but there is more than one reasonable interpretation here.

    1. It’s certainly possible IMO that Trump’s threats did indeed, in this case, provide impetus to the peace process.

But even if such an approach may have worked in this case, that doesn’t mean it was a sound or praiseworthy strategy. It’s brinkmanship; it’s gambling with other people’s lives. Freedom and prosperity will be achieved in the main by peaceful cooperation, not by the US government going around extorting other countries.

  2. It's weird how so much attention is focused on the Nobel Peace Prize as the reward, instead of just recognizing that actual peace itself is the reward.

  3. So harsh sanctions on N. Korea will cause N. Korea to scrap their nuclear weapons program:

"In January, Moon said Trump “deserves big credit for bringing about the inter-Korean talks. It could be a resulting work of the U.S.-led sanctions and pressure”.
    ...
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Sunday that Trump would maintain a “pressure campaign” of harsh sanctions on impoverished North Korea until Kim scraps his nuclear weapon program. "

    We'll see about that.

  5. I can see, if it is intentional, the strategy behind Moon’s response.
But, The Great Orange, is a murderer. And we should never forget that he is a murderer. And we should refer them him as a murderer. He is to be despised, like murderers should be.
It’s easy enough as time goes by and world events changing rapidly, to forget, but we shouldn’t ever let it be a secondary issue.
The Great Orange, the President of the U.S., murdered 8 year old Nawar al-Awlaki within a week of taking his office, an office with a long standing history of murderers. We shouldn’t think of him as anything else.

  7. The Nobel Peace Prize committee is appointed by the Norwegian parliament. It's composition reflects the party composition of the Norwegian parliament. It's dominated by "democratic socialists". Although due to recent electoral trends the Progress Party is in a position to nominate a seat - strong opposition was voiced to seating a former PP nominee known for his opposition to mass immigration and social conservative views. They would rather abolish the NPP than nominate Trump. It's just not going to happen.Even if Trump abolished nuclear weapons they would find a way to grant it to someone else.
