Trump Privately Talks Up Executing All Big Drug Dealers

Trump is a very dangerous dude.

I have no idea why libertarians are not attacking Trump more aggressively.

For the victimless crime of drug dealing, Axios reports this is Trump's view:
In Singapore, the death penalty is mandatory for drug trafficking offenses. And President Trump loves it. He’s been telling friends for months that the country’s policy to execute drug traffickers is the reason its drug consumption rates are so low.

"He says that a lot," said a source who's spoken to Trump at length about the subject. "He says, 'When I ask the prime minister of Singapore do they have a drug problem [the prime minister replies,] 'No. Death penalty'."

But the president doesn't just joke about it. According to five sources who've spoken with Trump about the subject, he often leaps into a passionate speech about how drug dealers are as bad as serial killers and should all get the death penalty.
Trump tells confidants a softer approach to drug reform — the kind where you show sympathy to the offenders and give them more lenient sentences — will never work.
He tells friends and associates the government has got to teach children that they'll die if they take drugs and they've got to make drug dealers fear for their lives.

If this country's authorities executed jaywalkers on the very spot they committed their 'transgressions', you can bet people would not cross the street haphazardly, but it would also mean people would see their government in a totally different light: one that would prioritize behavior control, rather than safeguarding people's rights.

But, Bob, it's par for the course. Trumpistas, just like their brethren and fellow travelers on the Progressive left, want the government to punish certain behaviors they deem unacceptable, regardless of the peaceful and voluntary nature of such behaviors, like hiring the person you want instead of an American Worker® who by his nature (presumably) has ownership of said job. Or in this case, punish drug dealers, even when drug dealing is now legal in several states (at least as far as the buying and selling Marijuana is concerned.)

Archie Bunker with a license to kill. Oh Joy.
My kids and I have a rendezvous spot arranged, so I can pull 'em out and take 'em to an island.

  3. Gee if anonymous sources and people familiar with his thinking said it then it must be true.

  5. A kid goes to a dealer for coke; he says i am sorry i don't have any yet. Instead I can let you have some heroin for $5.
The following weekend, the kid wants the heroin. Now its $25.
The 3rd weekend, the kid really wants the heroin. Now its $100. Etc
For most users, heroin causes a permanent change in the brain and a craving that never ends. The heroin dealer preys on the vulnerable and is as bad as a serial killer.

    1. Marmite, all that you say is true. However, if all drugs were available in a free market, a number of things would change. Lawyers would hound the most dangerous companies out of business. This cannot happen in a black market. Users would have access to the less dangerous alternatives (marijuana, cocaine, etc.), so they would not be forced by their pain to be suckered into heroin use. And users would be more likely to get treatment. This too cannot happen easily in a black market where the very purchase of the narcotic is a crime rather than a gateway to professional treatment.

    2. @Dwight, I support decriminalization & I accept your points. None of us know what different libertarian PPSs would accept, but I doubt that many would tolerate heroin addicts.

  6. I've got to be honest, the older I get, the more in favor I am of culling some of the herd. We have thousands of people (in an area with about 70,000 ppl or so) that live around the rivers. They use drugs and steal shit all day/night long. That is their life. Drugs, theft, repeat. They get arrested, they do a couple months and they are back at it. They provide nothing other than aluminum can and plastic bottle control. Recently, they were booted from the land they were trespassing on and now the city is being sued by a coalition of homeless drug users.
How many times should someone be arrested for stealing, burglary, robbery, grand theft auto etc. before we blow their head off? Serious question.
I realize a lot of these losers somehow collect checks from the government and cutting that off may help but their life style is deeply ingrained into them, some even have places to stay but continue to live as river bottom bums.
How many chances should people get to be decent human beings?

How many chances are YOU willing to give them before YOU turn into a murderer? Because --I want to believe-- you wouldn't ask someone else to be executioner on your behalf out of cowardice or qualm, or would you?

    2. @Rob, I agree. It is possible a libertarian PPS would set the penalty for a 2nd felony, with no mitigating criteria, to be death.

  7. Oh Francisco, Yes. I would have no issue with that. None. How you like them apples?
We had a kid get arrested for auto theft, he crashed into multiple cars and injured innocents. He was 19 and on felony probation for the previous crime of... drum roll... stealing a car. So, 19 years old and a piece of shit. Do we need this person on Earth? What purpose do they serve other than taking from society? I would have no issues ending his life with a gallows in the public square.
Should we instead send them off to crime school (jail/prison) so they can learn new and improved methods to rip off the general public at a cost of what, $50k/year? It costs more to house prisoners than the vast majority of people in my area make per year, scratch that, more than HOUSEHOLDS make per year.
So, now that I've agreed to be the executioner, what else you got Torres?

    1. Traditionally most libertarians have advocated that punishment should be determined based on proportionality to the crime, rather than someone’s judgement of the perpetrator’s vaiue to society.
