San Francisco Mayor to Trump: Go Ahead and Arrest Me

Acting San Francisco Mayor London Breed
The San Francisco Examiner reports:
President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice may target state and local officials overseeing “sanctuary cities” with criminal charges — potentially placing Acting Mayor London Breed and other San Francisco leaders squarely in their sights.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen disclosed the decision at a Tuesday Senate committee hearing, according to Newsweek.

“The Department of Justice is reviewing what avenues might be available,” Nielsen said, according to Newsweek. “The context of this is of course not only putting my [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] officers at risk, but also finding an efficient and effective way to enforce our immigration laws.”...

In response to queries from the San Francisco Examiner, Breed reiterated that commitment to sanctuary city policies, even in the face of a possible federal crackdown.

“We will not turn our backs on the people of this city because of threats from the Trump administration,” Breed said in a statement to the Examiner. “We will continue to fight in the courts to ensure that the hardworking immigrants of this city and state are protected.”

“If the federal government wants to charge local officials and jurisdictions who support our values, let them do it. I have no doubt that we will prevail. San Francisco is and will always be a sanctuary city,” Breed said.

  1. I wonder if the same people who rip into the Bundy's for defying the state will be ripping into Ms. Breed for doing something similar. Probably not.
