Prof Who Made Appearance On Tucker Carlson Show Suspended Indefinitely

A professor at Essex County College was indefinitely suspended two days after her heated appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight," reports The Daily Beast.

Lisa Durden was told that she had to cancel her classes and report to Essex County College’s human resources department two days after a June 6 appearance on the prime time Fox News show. School officials then indefinitely suspended her, according to The Beast.

What is this bizarre policing of differing views?

Durden is a professor, shouldn't we look to different views from all sides from professors?

Of course, an organization, such as the college, should be able to hire, fire or suspend anyone they want but it strikes me as far from creating a collegiate atmosphere of learning and debate when professors are fired because of specific comments and views.

And as far as her appearance, I don't think she said anything out of order. She was on the correct side of the debate not Carlson. If black people want to have black only gatherings, why not?

This is what got her indefinitely suspended:

I think Carlson should have her on to discuss whether it was proper for the college to suspend her.

  1. Well, Robert, I certain can't disagree with you from the property rights perspective. However, this woman is clearly a cultural marxist maniac who showed up with no semblance of composure to an interview on national TV.

If her classroom style is anything like her actions during this interview, then her courses would be no where near an atmosphere of learning and debate, and thus appropriate grounds for suspension and dismal.

    1. Much agreed- plus, if this woman teaches at a public university and/or their black party was to take place on public property, then discrimination should not be allowed. 100% private college, party to take place on private property? Let them have at it while the rest of us laugh.

  2. Note: I hope Carlson is not going the Bill O'Reilly route of segments of just trying to talk over people the whole duration of an interview.

Maybe I missed the question (and I'm not suffering through that horrid interview again to see), but Carlson didn't seem to ask the obvious question "Would the same rules be OK if the participants were white?" If Durden answered "yes" to that, then she'd have been consistent and on the correct side of the debate -- otherwise, not so much.

    1. Good points.

I, too, grow weary of hearing Tucker and other "moderators" continually interrupt their guests.

  3. Libertarian rules for libertarians, socialist rules for socialists. Don't try to apply libertarian fairness or goodness to socialists or marxists, they will simply use it as a club to beat you over the head with, shortly.

  4. Looks like Carlson/Fox pandering to angry whites. See, Ma, it's the blacks who are the racists!

I'd like to see a line of questioning to BLM getting at whether it was actually whites or the state that oppressed blacks. These kids could easily be converted to libertarianism with proper messaging. Start with Walter Williams: The State Against Blacks.

  5. I think BLM has a lot of the same problems as modern feminists.

    BLM wants:

    1) Inclusion and protection (all of the privileges) that come from being part of white society
    2) The ability to reject white society when it's convenient to them, and 3) Avoid all responsibility to society in general

    Feminists want:

    1) All of the money, protection, and deference from males
    2) The ability to avoid any responsibility as women
