Donald Trump's 1995 Tax Loss of $916 Million

It's another establishment hit on Donald Trump.

Trump declared a $916 million loss on his 1995 income tax return, a tax deduction so substantial it could have allowed him to legally avoid paying any federal income taxes for up to 18 years, reports  The New York Times.

I doubt this will sway many Trump supporters to give up support. Voters know that he is a slick operator. If anything, the release supports the idea that Trump plays in the big leagues.

But the hits will intensify over the next couple of weeks. This is Hillary putting her opposition research on Trump into play. The tax documents were mailed last month to Susanne Craig, a reporter at The Times who has written about Trump’s finances, says the paper.

I'm expecting similar to be launched by the Trump campaign, but there is no indication that he has spent as much on Hillary oppo research nor does it appear has he planned out as disciplined of a release campaign as Hillary. He may be counting to a significant degree on whatever Wikileaks releases.

  1. All Trump has to do to counter this is point out that he followed the tax laws that existed during the Clinton administration, and hence shift the "blame" to Bill/Hillary Clinton. He could similarly point out with respect to most any of the old public scandals she brings up that she seemed to have no issue with his character when he donated money to her and when she attended his wedding. Hillary's been such a blatant weather vane so prominently involved in politics for so long that it's really easy to call her out for being at least as guilty, if not more so, of just about any accusation she throws at Trump.

  2. #dumbDonald lost a billion in a boom year, in a booming economy. They only success in business he has ever had was being born rich.
