Block vs. Wenzel and Edelstein; Some Totally Asinine Arguments

The following exchange took place between Dr. Walter Block, Dr. Michael Edelstein and me.

From Dr. Block:
Dear Hillaryites:
This is one of the best pro Trump articles I've yet seen:

Does it convince you.
Best regards,

 RW responds:

Dear Walter,

Do you realize that when Peters makes this point in support of Trump it is totally asinine?:
Trump is arrogant, a blowhard. He may be a dick. But he hasn’t killed anyone that I am aware of, either himself or by proxy.
Unless their mothers died in childbirth, the same point could have been made at some point in support of Hitler, Mao, and Stalin.

That when he writes:
He doesn’t seem eager to get the US involved in more wars.
he is incorrectly stating Trump's position?

Trump is very eager to go to war. he doesn't want to do it for nation building, But to "fight ISIS."

From Politico:

Donald Trump would deploy up to 30,000 American soldiers in the Middle East to defeat the Islamic State, he said at Thursday night’s debate.
Trump was answering a question about comments from General Lloyd Austin III, the head of U.S. Central Command who said more troops on the ground would be needed to defeat ISIS in Syria and Iraq.
“We really have no choice, we have to knock out ISIS,” Trump said. “I would listen to the generals, but I’m hearing numbers of 20,000-30,000.”
Anyone who claims Trump isn't eager to go to war has failed in understanding even in a shallow manner Trump's true position as stated by him.

Further, Trump has some of the most insane war hawks surrounding him. He recently tweeted out praise for a book written by General Michael Flynn (that has a super neocon co-author), Flynn is certifiable. And Trump counts him as an important adviser?

Trump also just named Peter Navarro to his economic advisory team..Here's what Tyler Cowen said about recent Navarro books (my bold):
Navarro has lately been in a China phase, with three books, numerous articles and the documentary, and that is the work that has resonated with the Trump campaign...
Navarro does not come close to demonstrating his opening prediction that future war with China is “very likely.”... his "The Coming China Wars" is mostly a series of emotional diatribes against the Chinese government...
Do you seriously want to have a nutjob like this being taken seriously by your presidential candidate?

Further, you have yet to provide me with anyone who has rebutted the charges made by neocons that Hillary has backed down when it comes to Russia.

Walter, every link you have sent me comes from  authors that fail to understand basic facts of the current presidential campaign and where the candidates really stand on issues.

They do not address any of the issues that I have raised, including that it appears Trump will send troops into the Middle East, that he has crazed warmongers around him.

The links you have sent me are not from authors considering all the facts, They write like partisan hacks.

Finally, I am not a  Hillaryite. You are getting to sound as bad as the authors you quote.

My point has been that I suspect Hillary might be a tiny bit better than Trump but that I consider both Trump and Hillary serious sociopaths not worthy of support.

To make my position clear, I am now forming Libertarians Against Clinton, Trump, Johnson and Stein, for different reasons I find no reason to support any of them.

My Prediction: If Trump gets elected, blood will end up pouring from your conscience.

The current candidates are all evil people, There is no principled or strategic reason to support any of them.

Best regards,

Bob

  1. Rothbardian libertarian theory has always held that the government can force you to sell people a cake, it just can't force you to frost it fancy-like for them, right?

What's there not to like about Gary Johnson?

    1. Are are you kidding or serious? Rothbard would have never countenanced such a thought. Johnson is no Rothbardian. When Wenzel interviewed him last presidential election he had never even heard of him. Johnson is no libertarian.

So there's a lot not to like about him.

  2. Even worse is that apparently people have authorized recurring donations to Trump through the website cannot now cancel them. At least that's what political consultant Rick shaftan is reporting on Facebook.

  3. I am calling this "Trump Derangement Syndrome." Some of these folks should know better.

    1. Yeah, it's totally wishful thinking. But if these guys really considered each candidate by their actual merits, they would be as depressed and suicidal (almost) as we are. The only option is opt out. I can't wait to get back to the islands (after storm season). The Bahamas govt may be corrupt as heck, but they're also wildly inefficient which is a big plus.

  4. Dosen't it come down to the fact that Trump's hands are presently and hopefully in the future clean while HRC's are bloody and she's in with the crony capitalist war party! Ron Paul would've got the the same treatment that Trump is getting now had he prevailed in 2012. People who I trust told me that in their business dealings with Trump they found him to be pragmatic and fair!

  5. How does one go about joining Libertarians Against Clinton, Trump, Johnson, and Stein? That sounds like a cause I can get behind.

    1. no she won't. the government doesn't give two hoots about anything like this or your abortion rights, or the legal basis for the person you live with or even your guns (unless you start to threaten them with it) they are after your money and will repeat anything back to you to get it.

  7. These exchanges are high quality information on the 2016 POTUS race. I am very thankful that Wenzel makes them available.
