BREAKING: Bill Kristol Choice to Run Against Donald Trump Has Been Identified

Bill Kristol is considering recruiting David French to run against Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, according to Bloomberg.

This is a developing story, return to this post for updates.

UPDATE 1

French is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. According to the website of National Review, where French is a staff writer, he is a constitutional lawyer, a recipient of the Bronze Star, and an author of several books who lives in Columbia, Tenn., with his wife Nancy and three children.

UPDATE 2

Bloomberg reports:

Reached in Israel late Tuesday afternoon, Kristol declined to comment on his efforts to induce French to run...two Republicans confirmed that French is open to launching a bid, but that he has not made a final decision.

UPDATE 3

In the current edition of Kristol's The Weekly Standard, Kristol writes of French:
To say that he would be a better and a more responsible president than Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump is to state a truth that would become self-evident as more Americans got to know him.

UPDATE 4

French is co-author of  Rise of ISIS: A Threat We Can’t Ignore.

UPDATE 5

French French is a former senior counsel and contributor to ACLJ, which launched a petition: Defend Israel from Anti-Israel Attacks Across the Globe and the petition, Don’t Betray Israel; No Talks with Terrorists

UPDATE 6

In justifying endorsement of establishment Republicans such as Mitch McConnell over Trump, French has written:
While I’m often frustrated by GOP leadership (the weak response to AFFH and to Obama’s lawless transgender edict representing the latest examples), the idea that we should destroy their influence for the sake of elevating a far more liberal, ignorant, and dishonest human being to the height of American power strikes me as virtually insane.

  1. This is fug'n hilarious. Bill Kristol still thinks there is a large enough group of people that care what he thinks? Enough to make a difference?

  2. I'll be voting for Gary Johnson and I hope both parties burn to the ground.
