Daily Mail: ‘Stench of death' around Rand Paul’s campaign, warn Republican insiders

From the UK's Daily Mail:
Rand Paul could be the next Republican to quit the presidential race, GOP strategists say, if his fortunes don't turn around fast.
Paul's campaign has the 'stench of death' around it, one strategist with senior level experience on a presidential campaign said, and another questioned the depth of his war chest.

'Rand Paul’s campaign wreaks of the same stench of death that surrounded the [Rick] Perry and [Scott] Walker efforts before their demise,' one GOP strategist said.
Adding, 'Paul’s polling is anemic, his fundraising his lagging, his campaign is disorganized and he is in danger of getting bumped off the main debate stage. He also has to consider when its time to cut bait and focus on running for reelection to the Senate. His time is running short.
Things are certainly not going to improve for Rand in the next couple of weeks, as the criminal court case for his former top advisers and staffers, Jesse Benton, John Tate and Dimitri Kesari, is scheduled to begin.

Speculation continues that one or more will flip before trial and then the question becomes, Do any of them have dirt on Rand?

The other question is, of course, if Rand is not too bloodied from the trial, will his staying in the presidential race, where it appears he will get no traction, especially with Trump's regular attacks (See Rand is shrill), weaken him so much in general that he becomes vulnerable in Kentucky and a strong challenger emerges for his Senate seat.

Rand has made a number of strategic errors in his presidential campaign, his staying on now in the presidential race, where he will be more and more thought of as a loser, would be another. His best move would be to end his presidential campaign now, so it gives Kentuckians plenty of time to forget about his disastrous presidential campaign. Before more "Stench of Death" stories come out.

  1. Couldn't happen to a more appropriate guy. Rand is an incredible sellout, a shame to his fathers legacy. It would be nice if he lost his senate seat too. Thanks RW for all the outstanding rand coverage you've provided. I always told folks that yours is the best "rand watch" site there is.

  2. Rupert Murdoch wants you to think this.

Fact is, Rand is still 10 times better then 90% of all other Senators.

  3. We win from the outside. Organize, educate, criticize, and wait for our turn after the Establishment breaks the economy.

  4. I doubt Rand will even be able to keep his Senate seat without a major mea culpa. The problem is that I think that we are seeing the real Rand, not Rand "playing the game".
