  1. Yeah I remember that scene. The funny thing though RW is that what he said id SO obvious yet you STILL have idiots who think it actually works.

You know what though? Even if it did I'd STILL be against it. I can't think of a bigger coward than a person who would inflict unbearable pain on another person who is tied down and helpless. You'd have to REALLY be some lowlife cowardly little chickenshit to do that.

  2. Agreeing with Mike. Even when the colonist revolutionaries were starved to death on British hell ships, Washington demanded British POWs be well treated.
Respect is given to those who act with honor, dignity and integrity - all qualities the torturers and their supporters can't comprehend, much less aspire to attain.

  3. Torture is not done for information. It has some other purpose.

In the late 1940s Germany's top interrogator taught the US military how to do it. It's all about mental tricks (for instance having the prisoner think the interrogator already knows everything so they speak more freely) and making the prisoner comfortable talking with the interrogator. That is building trust and even friendship. The prisoner then will tell the interrogator the desired information, often without even realizing it.

Torture has no place in a quest for truthful information, but it can "confirm" a fictional narrative.
