UPDATE
For the first time in 25 years, Alabama has
elected a Democrat to the United States Senate.
Doug Jones has defeated the heavy-baggage, Trump-supported Roy Moore.
A big defeat for the economic nationalist Steve Bannon.
UPDATE 2
Interesting stats:
Amazing: turnout is at 72%-77% of '16 presidential race in heavily black counties, but just 55%-60% in rural white counties. Black voters punching above their weight tonight & giving Jones a chance. #ALSEN— Dave Wasserman (@Redistrict) December 13, 2017
African-American women (18% of electorate) went for Jones 97-3, per preliminary exit polls.— Evan McMurry (@evanmcmurry) December 13, 2017
Charles Brakeley had a lot to do with this. He campaigned for Jones heavily in his native state. Expect him to run for office in the near future. But note: During an interview with CNN, after the Jones victory was declared, he sounded much more lefty than he has in the past.
UPDATE UPDATE 3
Roy Moore signals he will not concede and points to automatic recount provision.
UPDATE 4
Roy Moore refuses to concede: “When the vote is this close, it is not over” https://t.co/BOXSrjZR9d https://t.co/YbLoUSbUqb— CNN Breaking News (@cnnbrk) December 13, 2017
What? How could this happen? How could people not elect the pederast? Trump's fellow traveler? The choice was soooo clear!
ReplyDelete??? A big defeat by the economic nationalist Steve Bannon.

A big defeat FOR the economic nationalist Steve Bannon. ???
This is probably a marginal step in favor of liberty. The more that power is evenly balanced between the Evil Party and the Stupid Party, the greater the chance of gridlock. Unless they pass bipartisan legislation which, as someone once said, means the legislation would be both evil and stupid.
ReplyDeleteI assume Luther Strange is just another milquetoast and warmongering R, so this election proves two negatives (Moore and Strange) don't make a positive: Jones
