Chris Hayes Pulls No Punches When Interviewing Former NYT Neocon Reporter Judith Miller

This is sweet.

On Monday evening’s edition of “All In with Chris Hayes,” host Hayes interviewed Judith Miller, the  former NYT reporter who wrote, in the build-up to the war in Iraq, that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Many believe her inaccurate reporting proved crucial to providing cover for the war desired by the neocons.

Hayes does not stop challenging her at any point  during the interview.

  1. The video encapsulates much of what is wrong with the mainstream press, much of what is wrong with others who are opinion-shapers, and much of what is wrong with those who allow their opinions to be shaped by those either so incompetent or unethical (call them the sheep).

The press: she might as well have said “I am nothing but the mouthpiece for the government,” because that is all she said in her own defense. Public relations agents for the regime.

The opinion-shapers: they can NEVER say they were wrong; they can NEVER say that the experience will change how they approach such events in the future.

The sheep: “I wonder what [fill in your favorite: the New York Times, CNN, Wall Street Journal, whatever] has to say about [fill in your favorite: Iran, Yemen, Libya, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Ukraine, the economy].

  2. A few things struck me on this interview:

    1. She references the anthrax investigation as back up to her investigative the FBI head of the investigation just declares them to be a hoax and the FBI head at the time is now claiming that the White House pressured them to blame Al Qaeda:

    2. Ergo, this tells me that Judith Miller is nothing more than a tool for government propaganda.

    3. Miller stated that MSM was "more or less reporting the same story". While we all know this is regularly the case with the MSM in general, I think what strikes me as most interesting in this gov't manipulated group think, is she uses this fact as an excuse to disabuse herself of any personal responsibility.

    That, is truly reprehensible.

  3. Checkmating the Bush Mafia requires Judith Miller be excoriated, and April Glaspie be ferreted out from internal exile or a landfill.

  4. She still thinks Osama Bin Laden and the al-CIA-duh did 911 which clearly shows she's not capable of independent critical thought.
