Henry Hazlitt |
The Secret To Hazlitt's Success
Henry Hazlitt was one of the most important economic writers in American history, with a career that included not only the classic Economics in One Lesson, but columns in such publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Newsweek (back when both were deserving of their prestige.)
What makes his incredible career all the more remarkable is that he was a self-trained economist who worked his way up from being an editor's secretary up to the pinnacle of American journalism.
What was the key to his extraordinary success?
In The Way to Will Power, Hazlitt outlines his own personal ethics as informed by ancient principles. Though one of Hazlitt's first books, written almost 25 years before the book that made him internationally famous, this book's quality is not only a reflection of his own natural talent — but a product that demonstrates the value of the advice he offers the reader.

ReplyDeleteAnd unlike many in the prominent free market school (no names!) Hazlitt was a perfect gentleman with not one snarky bone in his body. Love the guy.
ReplyDeleteI know I've mentioned it before, but I always read magazines from back to front, 'cause when I was a kid (a precocious brat), I always grabbed my Dad's Newsweek when it arrived, and turned immediately to the back page "Business Periscope" by Hazlitt.
